Powdery mildew arrives as a pale, flour-like dusting on the leaves, and once it settles on a plant it spreads quietly from leaf to leaf. Westland Fungus Guard is a ready-to-use spray that controls it on flowering plants, fruit and vegetables, in the garden, the greenhouse or the house.

It washes the spores off the leaves and helps the plant build its own resistance to disease, leaving the foliage clean and glossy. Westland makes it without pesticides and describes the formula as biodegradable and safe for bees and wildlife. You can pick straight after spraying; just rinse what you're going to eat.

How to use it

  • Shake well and spray straight onto the plant, top and underside of every leaf.
  • Use it before mildew shows, or as soon as you see the first white patches, and repeat every seven days.
  • Test a small area first: some plants scorch, particularly in hot weather.

Good to know

Direct the spray away from ponds and other water, keep it off your skin and out of your eyes, and wash your hands when you're done. It lives best on a high shelf, out of reach of children and animals.

For aphids, whitefly and the other insects, the same range has Westland Bug Guard.

You'll find it in both shops, Powerscourt Townhouse and Mill Street, on the shelf beside Bug Guard. Online, our own drivers deliver across Dublin, and DPD takes orders to the rest of Ireland.
